AUS: Thongs and a bonus N.O.T.Australia.D.

Hello there.. I have a few pics and youtube clips in this post, first some to nails to celebrate everything that I love about Australia.

I stamped thongs. The shoes others call flip flops.
I actually live in them about 9 months of the year.

I also used tape to create a letter "A".
I had a bad break so have trimmed them down to nubbins.

 Australis: liquid gold (stamping polish)
 Ulta3: purple pumps
 Sportsgirl. Nail it!: emerald city
Stamping plate: BM309
sticky tape
essie- 3 way glaze

---------------------------------- [Australia NOTD mani below]----------------------------------------

My sister won tiks 24 hours before Australia Day to: Big Day Out- Melbourne.

My mani for the day was inspired by Michelle Wong who said in an Aussie Nails post she was using a blue polish and adding ulta3- disco fever (a red glitter), and a white glitter.

Base polish: models own- feeling blue, ulta3- disco fever, ulta3- silver glitter (one nail)
Stamping polish: Barry M- silver foil (thumb)
Image plate: CH31
no topcoats used, yes there is a bit of tip wear.

I had a moment staring into the eyes of the lead singer of the Killers; and loved singing along with everyone to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers "under the bridge".

AUS: Maate

Hello.. This mani is one of my Aussie themed.
Remember I'm only using Australis, Ulta3 and Sportsgirl brand polish.
I'll put the nail pics up first, then do an explanation after..

 Australis: flip flops

?
 Ulta3: allure

 Sportsgirl. Nail it!: volcanic sparks

Stamping plate: BM304
Stamping polish: konad- white

  • 2 coats of Ulta3- Allure (except 3rd nail).
  • Saran/glad wrap technique: with Australis- flip flops over 2 nails, with Sportsgirl- volcanic sparks over pinky.
  • Stamping over each nail.

Okay, so you have perused my mani. Are you wondering why its got happy faces stamped on it?
Well hear me out, remember the post title- MATE!
Of course, a mate is someone who is good for a party in a group, and is fun. These nails are a group of smiley face mates! Now where's my drink, mate?

AUS: Pineapple

Hello.. in the lead up to Australia Day (26 January), I've some manis depicting things I love about Australia.

Also I am only using polish brands that begin with A, U and S.
A for Australis, U for Ulta3 and S for Sportsgirl (it also has "nail it!" name on the bottle).

Australis: limited edition 2

Ulta3: crazy

Sportsgirl. Nail it!: love potion

Stamping plate: CH20
Stamping polish: ulta3- gold rush fever

Have you been to the big pineapple? I love how we have a lot of giant fibreglass-y items that make an area famous.
The Big Pineapple

Now, as well as the mani, I need to ask if you are for or against pineapple appearing on a pizza (a sweet fruit on a savoury food)? What about pineapple in a salad (a fruit in a vegetable salad)?
Love some of the responses I have heard over summer, it's fun to hear the explanations why you have it in a certain food?

Also I'm piggy backing on Cathy's Aussie Day Nails lead up, that features an inlinkz.
So if you are reading this and are also Australian, get on it (before the 26th).
And if you came from another blog through the inlinkz-- thanks so much for reading down to the end !!

AUS: Footy

Hello.. Here's another Aussie Day theme-y post.

I have to admit I'm not at all a hardcore fan of footy, or rugby, or soccer, or many sports at all.
Also I haven't had anyone close explain their love for it to me.
I'm happy if yo9u love it, but please don't hate me, cos I really don't get it!!

Australis: speck-tacular

Ulta3: black plum

Sportsgirl. Nail it!: star bright

Stamping plate: CH35
Stamping polish: konad- black, ulta3- black plum
Claire's- black nail art pen

The black lines on my pinky are goal posts.
There are2 long ones in the middle and a shorter one either side.
Speck-tacular is on all nails.
It's really hard to capture on the white gold :(

Halloween: Zombies

Hello.. Welcome to another weeks Halloween mani. This week we're half way through the challenge, I'm finding it so difficult with my nail art skills. I have many drawers full of polish, so lets see what I have chosen to use today...

Base polish: Australis- limited edition 2 (green)
Details: ulta3- lily white, ulta3- crystallina, NYC- red slippers [ dupe for ulta3- English rose], essence- grand pliƩ in black

I squished the eyes on one nail, at the top of the photo. Looks to me like red fried eggs instead of eyes?

Have you bought any new polish just to do the Halloween manis? And what costume are you going to be wearing later in the month?

8- metallic. [30 day challenge/ untrieds]

Hello.. It's Saturday, and I have scheduled this post as part of the [30 day challenge/ untrieds]- because I'm going to the weekend away for Alpha.

Today's theme- metallic, I pulled out the polish that reminds me of a metal.
Australis- Liquid gold.
See the sticker, I got it on clearance from KMart ages ago and haven't felt the urgency to wear it.

The colour is gold, and the polish consistency I found smooth but thin. I was in a rush and slapped thicker coats of it on, then found it streaky, a bit like when I don't carefully apply polish that has a frosty finish.
Second last finger has matte top coat. None of the other nails have a clear topcoat either.

The colour on my nails didn't accurately reflect the colour in the polish bottle.
Although the polish colour on my nails did become shiny in the sun.

My nails were also bumpy due to using my sometimes trusty PVA glue (as peel off base coat).
I don't think I will use this polish again, I have brighter golds, and they applied nicer for me..

SSSP: group inspiration & HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!

Hello.. Welcome to another Sunday Stamping Sneak Peek (SSSP)..
The theme for this week from AIS is "a mani based on something you have learnt from the group".

My inspiration is from this image, by Natalie Niu, wanting to create my own version of it, and I also haven't used this plate before (lol, the blue plastic was still on it). I also learnt from the group that you can stamp quite well with the Sally Hansen insta-dry polishes.

Also today, 1st September, is my nephew's 11th birthday. It is important to me as I have raised him since he was 6mths old. He loves Lego and hopes that everyone he invited to his party will buy him an ipod touch :)

So lovely readers, the following is a SSSP for AIS with a glittery Birthday twist !!

Base polish: essence- 22: what do u think? + Australis: fairybread
Stamping polish: S.H. insta-dry- night flight
Image plate: BM319

** pics are taken inside on my dodgy iphone camera. If I keep this mani on I'll take more pics tomorrow in the sunshine !!

Jam packed with Pics: my busy week in polish

Hello.. Hope your week is great.

My new pretty polishes are from Australis, I picked up 2 of the "fairy bread" multicolored glitter from Priceline, for the snazzy price of 2 for $10 instead of their usual $7.95 each.
I liked this glitter as it has different sizes and colors to mix and match with many base coats for different occasions.

Base polish is a pink Franken, I made it for a friend as as a dupe for a Rimmel fuchsia polish I gave to my sister..

~My version of Revlon's whimsical but with less pink glitter was mixed with and layered over ulta3- eggshell. From faraway it looks like speckled blue eggs, but it shines nicely in the sun, the only downside to my creation was that once the polishes were mixed to create the franken the glitter settled to the bottom of my bottle. It's going to need a good shake to use it again.

Pole-ish or pol-ish: My week in nails

Hello.. the past week has been so cold, and with the London Olympics- the Australian team need my support my showing you all my colourful recent manis ..

I rummaged to find my Aussie brands of polish in our colours of green and gold.

The easiest mani I could think of, I couldn't find any stamping that was sporty or Australian themed.

Also I did this mani, with the plain yellow accent nail. I love the depth of colour in the green polish.
I bought it from Sportsgirl.

The green and gold had done its job, Australia finally won some gold medals. After all the Bronze and silver we'd won I chose to wear them plain for a few days each.

3rd place: BRONZE--  Face of Australia- Bronze
2nd place: SILVER-- nails inc. for Cleo- Cleopatra's kiss
1st place: GOLD-- Face of Australia- Gold
